Arts for Health, Hamilton
Workshop: $65
Optional materials use: $15
Suitable for ages 14+, from complete beginners to experienced artists wanting to loosen up their approach.
Forget about creating the perfect likeness! Portrait Play is a relaxed, creative three-hour portrait workshop in Hamilton exploring drawing, collage and mixed media.
Through quick, playful exercises, you’ll experiment with line, texture, layering and different materials before developing your ideas into expressive mixed-media portraits. It’s a chance to loosen up your drawing, try new approaches and build confidence without worrying about getting everything “right.” No previous drawing experience is needed.
You’ll leave with a collection of portrait studies, new techniques to continue exploring at home, and greater confidence in approaching portrait drawing.
You can bring your own materials, or pay an additional $15 to use materials provided during the workshop. Provided materials remain the property of Arts for Health and are not taken home.
If bringing your own, you’ll need: pencils, brushes and ink, charcoal, rubbers/erasers, tissue paper, crayons, PVA glue and glue brushes, and a glue stick.
