Flowers, gardens, trees, landscapes and natural forms provide endless inspiration for artists.

Art Inspired by Nature is an eight-week adult art course where you'll explore a range of materials and techniques while creating artwork inspired by the world around you. Each week introduces a different project, giving you the opportunity to experiment with drawing, painting and mixed media while developing practical art skills.

Suitable for beginners and hobby artists, this course offers a supportive and structured environment where you can try new techniques, learn from an experienced tutor and enjoy making art.

No previous experience is required.

What You'll Explore

Throughout the course you'll work with a variety of materials and approaches, which may include:

  • Drawing

  • Watercolour

  • Acrylic painting

  • Mixed media

  • Colour and composition

  • Working from observation and reference images

Each week offers something different while building skills that you can continue using in your own art practice.

Meet Your Tutor Jennifer:
Jennifer holds an MA in Painting, brings experience and clear, step-by-step guidance. She adapts each class to students’ needs, helping everyone to build skills and confidence.

Pathway:
After this class, participants can join other adult art classes such as Open Studio to continue practicing or return to our Art Inspired by Nature class to try advanced painting techniques.

Equipment List: Participants can either bring their own materials (see the stationery list provided) or pay a $30 materials fee to use class-supplied materials. Please note that class-supplied materials remain the property of the class and are not available to take home.

- Paper (watercolour pad and drawing pad)
- Pencil set
- Charcoal
- Masking tape
- Watercolour paints (12 colours or more, including primary colours)
- One sheet of A3 black paper
- Magazines for collage
- Faber-Castell black pen set
- Acrylic paints (12 colours or more, including primary colours)

Most materials can be found at the $2 dollar shop or The Warehouse Stationary
